Me dió mucho gusto verles jovenes.

Welcome to Córdoba!

Inspired today after finding out that they are publishing online Mr. Orwell´s diary.

Well, here we are now. My family and I have been here for around three weeks. And just like the guy said while he was falling from the top of a skyscraper when someone asked him: How is it going? -So far, so good! I do love it here. Everything is green. It rains at night and during the day the weather is ok, sometimes a little too humid, but nothing I cannot resist. If I don´t lose weight here, I guess next step would be the Gandhi diet or something radical like that.

People have been awesomely (don´t know if that word exists by the way) friendly. This place reminds me of Cuba in many ways. It also takes a lot of time to get anything done, but by the time it is done you just found in that person a new friend.

I have high expectations for this new chapter. Some thing are turning a little unexpected, but maybe is time to learn to fly by myself. Who knows. It is a shame though...kindda hurts.

Anyway, I think I am thinking out loud. I will try to stick to these type of stuff now that I have more time for myself... or me should I say (JH RIP). I will leave you with a picture of the "Borrego" the institutional mascot that is found at the entrance of campus.

Beer for the whole family!!

I really don't know if living outside of México for a while made me look at some things in a different way. Now that I am back in this wonderful country, I have found some things that get my attention and I wonder if those things were always there or I just notice them. For example, I was driving back from Mexico City last weekend and I found a billboard advertising "Corona Familiar"! Yes, Corona (the beer!) for the whole family!!!

Isn't that kind of weird? or am I freaking out for something so little? I wasn't able to take a picture of the billboard but here is a picture for you. (As you can see, the beer is bottled in a large container, of course, to have enough for the whole family!!)

Coming to the Taquiza

My wife and kids are in Oaxaca having a good time and visiting the abuelos. So, I am here by myself enjoying the peace and silence around an empty (and I really mean empty) house. The grad school people wanted to have a taquiza (a get together where you eat tacos) on Sunday. I wasn't too happy with the idea of coming to school on Sunday, but... ok... besides, I am all by myself with nothing else to do and who can say no to tacos, right? After a long night of TV (TV is much better with cable) I got up on Sunday, got dressed and went to the office. As soon as I arrived to the front gate the guard asked me where I was heading. I have an event to attend today sir. - Oh that's right, please come in, they have been waiting for you for a good while!! what??? I thought!

I ran into the office... nothing. I ran into the auditorium... nothing...I went to the terrace... nothing. Dinning hall... nothing. Nobody was there! Did they leave? I don't think so, besides I don't see a trace of a "taco maker" around here. So I decided to go back to the gate and ask the police officer where were these people. In the basketball court he said. They came from Celaya Guanajuato to talk with the basketball coach.... oops.. aren't you....? sorry... excuse me... who are you then?

Well, the taquiza is this coming freacking Sunday! I guess I should start following Andrea's advice and have my own schedule book and no to rely so much in assistants. The only good thing about all this is that I got to eat 1lb of paella that I bought on the way back home.
